A Norwegian Air Sweden Boeing 737-800, registration SE-RXC performing flight D8-2883 from Malaga,SP (Spain) to Helsinki (Finland), had departed Malaga with a delay of about 130 minutes and was enroute at FL370 about 110nm southwest of Copenhagen (Denmark) when the crew decided to divert to Copenhagen for a safe landing on runway 04L about 27 minutes later.

A passenger reported:

The boarding for flight AGP-HEL was completed around 45min after STD when announcement was made by the captain that there is a oil leak under engine no1 and all passengers must deboard the aircraft at this point. After this the engine was examined by the engineers and run up was made.

At some point boarding started again and the flight to HEL began.

At some point announcement was made by the captain that the crew is running out of duty time and that is why we are landing to CPH and change crew and also the aircraft(?!).

After landing no one was allowed access to terminal and passengers, hand luggage, checked bags from holds were moved to another aircraft next to us via aft stairs and apron.

As I exited the plane I looked and took a photo of engine no1 and under it had a oil spill and also the engine cowlings were covered with fresh oil...it looked like it had leaked during the flight...

The cowlings were cleaned by the technicians after the run up in AGP so those oil stains have come up during the flight from AGP to CPH.

I and other passengers found strange that if crew is running out of duty time why aren´t the new crew just hop on the current plane and we continue to HEL...there was a big hassle with moving everything to new plane from the old one.

NO ONE, not the captain, crew from the original or from the new flight CPH-HEL said anything about the real reason(?) why we diverted to CPH.

A replacement Boeing 737-8 MAX registration SE-RTS reached Helsinki with a total delay of about 3.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Copenhagen about 27.5 hours after landing.
