An Air India Boeing 777-300, registration VT-ALX performing flight AI-129 from Mumbai (India) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 310 people on board, was enroute at FL310 about 370nm north of Mumbai when the crew initiated a descent to FL100 reporting problems with the cabin pressure. The aircraft levelled off at FL100 about 15 minutes later and returned to Mumbai for a safe landing about 3 hours after departure.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration VT-AEP is estimated to reach London with a delay of about 12.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Mumbai about 10 hours after landing.
