A Dniproavia Boeing 737-500 on behalf of Aerosvit, registration UR-DND performing flight VV-18 from Odessa to Kiev (Ukraine), was about to takeoff from Odessa when after applying takeoff thrust the takeoff configuration alert sounded prompting the crew to reject takeoff. The aircraft returned to the apron.

Ukraine's Ministry of Transport reported in their monthly bulletin that maintenance found a failed switch signalling the speedbrakes were in the proper position for takeoff. The switch was replaced.
