A Yamal Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration VP-BRU performing flight YC-165 from Tyumen to Anapa (Russia) with 111 passengers and 8 crew, had just become airborne climbing through about 15 feet above the runway when the left hand engine (CFM56) ingested a large bird causing an increase in engine vibrations and abnormal sounds from the engine. The crew levelled off at 2500 feet and decided to return to Tyument. A runway inspection found and removed bird debris from the runway about 1730 meters down the runway. The aircraft burned off fuel and landed safely back about one hour after departure.

Rosaviatsia reported the left engine received damage to 8 fan blades.
