An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N556UW performing flight AA-1193 from Philadelphia,PA to Salt Lake City,UT (USA), was climbing through about FL260 when the crew stopped the climb, descended, climbed again, turned around for a return to Philadelphia before deciding to divert to Baltimore due to electrical problems affecting their instruments, they were running their checklists. The aircraft landed safely on Baltimore's runway 10 about 45 minutes after the onset of trouble.

People living below the approach path reported a low flying aircraft with a very strange sound, one observer reported the distinct sound like the RAT in operation.

On Apr 30th 2026 the NTSB reported they have opened an investigation into the occurrence rated an incident, the RAT deployed after the failure of both generators.
