An American Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N187AN performing flight AA-130 from New York JFK,NY (USA) to Birmingham,EN (UK) with 197 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 500nm east of Gander,NL (Canada) when the left hand integrated drive generator (IDG, engine RB211) failed. The APU was started but experienced an automatic shut down. Being down to the right hand IDG only the crew declared emergency and diverted to Gander for a safe landing about 105 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported the left hand IDG was replaced and the aircraft returned to service.

The occurrence aircraft resumed service on Aug 27th 2015.
