Jazz DH8C enroute on Dec 9th 2014, anti-ice and generator problems

A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-GHTA performing flight QK-8089 from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Seattle,WA (USA) with 13 people on board, was enroute at 15,000 feet about 30nm south of Vancouver when the crew noticed the left hand engine surging following by generator #1 and left hand elevator horn heating caution warnings. The crew worked the #1 AC generator checklist and returned to Vancouver for a safe landing on runway 08L about 50 minutes after departure.

The rotation was cancelled.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance inspected numerous components and systems including the #1 AC generator, #1 AC generator control unit, left and right AC generator contactor box, left elevator horn heat, propeller de-icing as well as associated wirings but found no fault. All systems were tested serviceable, the aircraft returned to service.
