Jazz DH8C at Vancouver on Jun 2nd 2012, hydraulic failure causes flap- and brakesless landing

A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-FMDW performing flight QK-8271 from Vancouver,BC to Nanaimo,BC (Canada) with 52 people on board, had just departed for the 10 minute hop across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island when the crew declared emergency reporting hydraulic problems and decided to return to Vancouver. The aircraft landed without flaps and without brakes on Vancouver's runway 26L but came to a safe stop on the runway.

The runway was closed for about 8 minutes.

A replacement Dash 8-300 reached Nanaimo with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The Canadian TSB reported the #1 hydraulic pressure was lost. Maintenance found a leaking hydraulic fitting O-ring on a line to pressure manifold. The O-ring, the #1 engine driven pump and the case drain filter were replaced, hydraulic fluid was replenished and the aircraft underwent a ground run with satisfactory results.
