An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190, registration C-FMZU performing flight AC-585 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 65 people on board, was climbing through FL220 when the crew reported the loss of cabin pressure and descended the aircraft to 10,000 feet. Cruising at 10,000 feet the aircraft diverted to Toronto,ON (Canada) where the aircraft landed safely about one hour later.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been dispatched under Minimum Equipment List requirements with the #1 bleed air system inoperative. When the aircraft climbed through FL220 the crew received a #2 bleed system failure message, declared PAN, descended to 10,000 feet, worked the relevant checklists which restored the #2 bleed system and diverted to Toronto.

A replacement ERJ-190 reached Calgary with a delay of 4:45 hours.
