A Sunstate Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400 on behalf of Qantas, registration VH-QOJ performing flight QF-2079 from Mildura,VI to Melbourne,VI (Australia) with 59 people on board, was climbing out of Mildura's runway 27 when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet due to a problem with the flaps. The aircraft entered holds and returned to Mildura for a safe landing on runway 27 about 80 minutes after departure.

Passengers reported the crew announced the flaps were stuck.

The aircraft was able to depart 6.5 hours after landing back and reached Melbourne with a delay of about 7.5 hours.
