A PSA Airlines Canadair CRJ-900 on behalf of American Airlines, registration N585NN performing flight AA-5278 from Washington National,DC to Pensacola,FL (USA) with 78 people on board, was climbing through FL260 out of Washington when the crew initiated a descent to below 10,000 feet reporting problems with the cabin pressure. The aircraft diverted to Lynchburg,VA (USA) for a safe landing on runway 22 about one hour after stopping the climb.

A replacement CRJ-900 registration N558NN reched Pensacola with a delay of about 5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft positioned to Dayton,OH (USA) departing about 5 hours after landing and maintaining a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet. The aircraft remained on the ground in Dayton until Jan 2nd 2024 before returning to service.
