An American Airlines Boeing 767-300, registration N388AA performing flight AA-112 from Miami,FL (USA) to Barcelona,SP (Spain) with 195 passengers, was enroute at FL330 about 100nm north of Nassau (Bahamas) when the crew observed abnormal engine indications for one of the engines (CF6) and decided to not cross the Atlantic. The crew considered to return to Miami, but in the end decided to divert to New York's JFK Airport, climbed to FL350 enroute to New york and landed safely at JFK Airport about 2:45 hours later.

A replacement Boeing 767-300 registration N386AA departed New York about 90 minutes after landing of N388A and reached Barcelona with a delay of 3 hours.
