An Air Transat Airbus A310-300, registration C-GSAT performing flight TS-973 from Samana (Dominican Republic) to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 234 passengers and 9 crew, was climbing out of Samana about 45nm northnorthwest of Samana when a burning odour was detected. Cabin crew went to investigate the smell and found the odour originated from an oven in the aft galley, upon examination of the oven an identification card, apparently belonging to an airport worker, was found. The remains of the card were removed. The flight continued to destination for a safe landing without further incident.

The Canadian TSB reported the oven was inspected by maintenance after landing, no faults were found.
