An Air Transat Airbus A310-300, registration C-GSAT performing flight TS-189 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 237 people on board, was enroute at FL360 about to reach the top of descent towards Toronto when the #2 engine (CF6, right hand) lost power. The crew declared emergency, worked the related checklists and left the engine running at idle thrust. The aircraft landed safely on Toronto's runway 23 about 25 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found the Variable Stator Vane feedback cable broken. The cable was replaced.
