A VivaAeroBus Airbus A320-200, registration XA-VAK performing flight VB-2709 from Mexico City to Guadalajara (Mexico), had been cleared for takeoff from runway 23R and was accelerating for takeoff, when the Interjet A320 crossed the hold short line. The crew rejected takeoff at high speed and brought the aircraft to a stop on the runway about 2150 meters/7000 feet down the runway.
XA-VAK was able to depart for flight VB-2709 about 90 minutes after the rejected takeoff and reached Guadalajara with a delay of 90 minutes.
XA-MLR remained on the ground for about 9.5 hours before returning to service.
Mexico's Accident Investigation Board (AIB) rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.
