A KLM Boeing 737-700, registration PH-BGF performing flight KL-1793 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Munich (Germany), was climbing out of Amsterdam when the crew reported a problem with the flight controls and consulted with company maintenance while continuing the climb. The crew reported the pitch control felt very heavy as if they were fighting against control wheel steering, which however was not active. After levelling off at cruise FL350 maintenance and dispatch decided that the aircraft should return to Amsterdam to avoid downtime in Munich. The crew turned the aircraft around about 10nm northwest of Dortmund (Germany) and returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing about one hour after departure.

The flight was cancelled.
