A KLM Boeing 737-700, registration PH-BGF performing flight KL-1374 from Bucharest (Romania) to Amsterdam (Netherlands), was on final approach to Amsterdam's runway 18C when the crew received landing clearance on runway 18C but initiated a go around from 1000 feet MSL due to a flaps problem.

Tower, after a brief moment of surprise and with some agitation in the voice, cancelled the takeoff clearance from runway 24 just issued prior to the landing clearance, the crew acknowledged and advised they would be holding their position.

The KLM 737 climbed back to 3000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 18C advising a normal landing would occur, and landed safely at about 154 knots over ground about 18 minutes after the go around.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had gone around due to a flaps problem, the problem was under control and a normal landing would occur. The passenger observed the slats were extended throughout the go around, reposition and landing, however, was unsure about the flap position. If the landing was at a higher speed than normal it did not feel as such.
