A Belavia Boeing 737-300, registration EW-407PA performing flight B2-945 from Minsk (Belarus) to St. Petersburg (Russia), was in the initial climb through 500 feet AGL out of Minsk's runway 31 when the aircraft flew through a flock of birds and an engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to stop the climb at 4000 feet MSL and return to Minsk for a safe landing on runway 31 about 20 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-500 registration EW-253PA reached St. Petersburg with a delay of 2.5 hours.
