An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N887NN performing flight AA-2575 from Austin,TX to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 146 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing through about 11000 feet out of Austin when the crew advised they needed to return to Austin due to an odour in the aft cabin, they were landing overweight and therefore declared emergency. The aircraft landed on Austin's runway 17R about 20 minutes after departure.

The airline reported a mechanical issue, an odour in the cabin.

A passenger reported crew hinted the aircraft had undergone an engine wash during the night prior to departure.
