An American Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N725UW performing flight AA-1181 from Miami,FL (USA) to Fort-De-France (Martinique), was climbing out of Miami when the crew stopped the climb at FL230 and decided to return to Miami. The aircraft landed safely on runway 09 about 45 minutes after departure.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT LOST THE ENGINE COWLING AND RETURNED TO MIA, MIAMI, FL."

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 3 hours, then departed for another flight.
