A Cargojet Boeing 767-300, registration C-FPIJ performing flight W8-1894 from Cologne (Germany) to Hamilton,ON (Canada), was enroute at FL300 about 110nm northwest of Cologne when the crew decided to return to Cologne due to an engine (CF6) problem. The crew shut the engine down and landed safely back in Cologne about 45 minutes after departure.

The aircraft needed to return a second time the following day, see Incident: Cargojet B763 near Cologne on Dec 12th 2016, engine shut down in flight.

On Dec 28th 2016 the Canadian TSB reported that maintenance discovered a significant oil leak at the aft end of the engine core and found a broken oil line at the Lube Oil Manifold connection of the Oil Pressure Transmitter. The line was replaced, the engine was test run and returned to service, but experienced a similiar fault the next day.
