A United Boeing 757-200, registration N502UA performing flight UA-1584 from San Francisco,CA to Newark,NJ (USA) with 136 passengers, was enroute at FL370 about 130nm southwest of Salt Lake City,UT (USA) when the first officer reported the captain felt ill, they were diverting to Salt Lake City. The aircraft performed an ILS approach to runway 34R (visual approach to runway 34L in use otherwise), landed safely on runway 34R and taxied expeditiously to the apron.

The airline reported the captain began to feel ill about two hours into the flight, the first officer diverted the aircraft to Salt Lake City. The captain was able to walk off the aircraft.

A replacement crew continued the flight, N502UA reached Newark with a delay of 6 hours.
