A Provincial Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-GYCV performing flight PB-922 from Wabush,NL to Goose Bay,NL (Canada), departed runway 18 when shortly after becoming airborne the crew observed fluctuations of engine torque and propeller speed on the right hand engine (PW123), which persisted even after engine power had been reduced. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Wabush for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the right hand electronic control unit (ECU) following troubleshooting. The following day the aircraft performed a testflight PB-999 from Wabush to Wabush. During initial climb the same torque and propeller speed fluctuations were observed as on the day before. The engine was again shut down, the aircraft landed safely back. Following further examination maintenance replaced a faulty power lever micro switch.
