An Air Canada Airbus A320-200, registration C-FDQQ performing flight AC-551 from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Vancouver,BC (Canada), was enroute at FL360 about 140nm eastnortheast of San Francisco,CA (USA) when the crew noticed the cabin altitude had increased to 9500 feet and initiated a descent. The crew was able to regain control of the cabin pressure during the descent, stopped the descent at FL240, the passenger oxygen masks were not released. The aircraft climbed to FL300 and continued to Vancouver about 95 minutes after leaving FL360.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the #1 pressure regulating valve and the #1 temperature limitation thermostat. An subsequent operational test of the #1 bleed air system showed no malfunction anymore.
