An Air Canada Airbus A330-300, registration C-GFUR performing flight AC-834 from Toronto,ON to Montreal,QC (Canada), was taxiing for departure and was instructed by ATC "to taxi to position on Runway 24R", however, the transmission was blocked. ATC subsequently instructed the crew to hold its position, the crew read back "to position and hold 24R" and taxied onto runway 24R into position for departure.

A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-FGWJ performing flight WS-1245 from Tampa,FL (USA) to Toronto,ON (Canada), was on final approach to runway 24R and was instructed to go around as result of AC-834 taxiing onto the runway.

Canada's TSB is collecting further information to assess whether an investigation will be opened.
