An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N798AN performing flight AA-141 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to New York JFK,NY (USA), was enroute at FL400 about 150nm west of Shannon (Ireland) about to enter Oceanic Airspace when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Shannon reporting battery discharge issues. The aircraft landed safely on Shannon's runway 06 about 30 minutes later.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 18 hours, then continued the flight and is estimated to reach New York with a delay of 21 hours.
