An Egypt Air Airbus A320-200, registration SU-GCA performing flight MS-844 from Tunis (Tunisia) to Cairo (Egypt), was taxiing for departure and had been instructed to hold short of runway 01 at holding point A, the crew had correctly read back the instruction.

An Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration A6-EMR performing flight EK-747 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Tunis (Tunisia), was on final approach to runway 01 descending through about 350 feet AGL, when the A320 crossed the short hold line and stopped just short of the runway edge prompting the Emirates crew to go around.

After being clear of conflict the A320 continued line up onto runway 01 and departed for Cairo, where the aircraft landed without further incident.

The Emirates B773 positioned for another approach and landed safely on runway 01 about 13 minutes after going around.
