Lufthansa A346 near Halifax on Jun 30th 2012, engine shut down in flight

A Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, registration D-AIHU performing flight LH-425 from Boston,MA (USA) to Munich (Germany), was enroute at FL370 about 75nm west of Halifax,NS (Canada) when the crew requested to descend to FL350 reporting they had shut engine #2 (Trent 553, inboard left hand) down. The aircraft later descended to FL330. The aircraft continued the flight to Munich for a safe landing about 5:50 hours later.

Transport Canada reported the aircraft was enroute near 4519N/6134W when the crew requested to descend from FL370 to FL350 due to engine #2 being shut down, however, provided an occurrence date of Jul 3rd 2012. Flight LH-425 of that day however climbed to FL390 at about that position, the flight LH-425 departing Jul 2nd (Jul 3rd Zulu) maintained FL370 and later climbed to FL390.

On Jul 17th 2012 the Canadian TSB reported the crew received multiple ECAM warnings for the #2 engine, the crew shut the engine down as a precaution and continued to destination. Maintenance replaced the #2 engine's electronic engine control.
