An Aeromexico Boeing 787-800, registration N961AM performing flight AM-3 (dep Jun 28th) from Mexico City (Mexico) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) with 193 people on board, was enroute at FL370 over the Atlantic Ocean about 230nm southwest of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew reported an right aft cargo smoke indication and decided to divert to Shannon. On approach the crew advised that nobody should approach the aircraft from the right, they wanted to taxi the aircraft to a remote stand to have the passengers disembark first before the aft right cargo hold should be opened. The aircraft landed safely on runway 06 (winds from 150 degrees at 19 knots) about 40 minutes after reporting the cargo smoke indication, taxied to the apron and performed a rapid disembarkation of passengers via stairs. Emergency services found no trace of fire, heat or smoke.

The aircraft was carrying two tons of Mangos and six tons of computer parts in the cargo holds. It is believed that the Mangos caused the indication.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Shannon about 26 hours after landing.
