An Aeromexico Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration XA-MAY performing flight AM-691 from San Juan (Costa Rica) to Mexico City (Mexico), was climbing out of San Juan's runway 25 when the crew reported they had a problem with the speed indicators and decided to return to San Juan. The aircraft stopped the climb at 7000 feet, positioned for an approach to runway 25 and landed safely about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

The aircraft returned to service about 18 hours after landing.
