A Lufthansa Airbus A340-300, registration D-AIGY performing flight LH-444 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 276 passengers, was climbing out of Frankfurt's runway 18 when the crew stopped the climb at FL140 reporting problems with one of the engines (CFM56). The aircraft entered a hold to dump fuel and returned to Frankfurt for a safe landing on runway 25C about 90 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A340-300 registration D-AIGL reached Atlanta with a delay of 6 hours.
