A Lufthansa Airbus A340-300, registration D-AIGY performing flight LH-442 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Detroit,MI (USA) with 162 passengers and 12 crew, was enroute when the crew detected a fuel leak out of the jettison system but decided to continue the flight to Detroit. While descending towards Detroit the crew advised they still had one hour endurance remaining, the fuel leak had stopped during the descent, they requested emergency services to be on stand by and then escort them to the gate as a safety precaution. The aircraft landed safely on Detroit's runway 03R, requested emergency service to especially look out for any fuel from the right hand wing of the aircraft, emergency services indicated no fuel was leaking, the crew cancelled the emergency and taxied to the gate with the emergency services in trail.

The incident aircraft was able to depart for the return flight almost on schedule and reached Frankfurt with a delay of 30 minutes.
