A Kelowna Flightcraft Boeing 727-200, registration C-GXKF performing freight flight KFA-275 from Hamilton,ON to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 3 crew, was climbing out of Hamilton's runway 30 when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet due to pressure and quantity indications of hydraulic system A dropping. The crew worked the related checklist, the low pressure light illuminated. The crew decided to return to Hamilton and to dump fuel, the aircraft climbed to 9000 feet for the fuel dump and returned to Hamilton for a safe landing on runway 12 about 45 minutes after departure. The aircraft needed to be towed off the runway due to the loss of nose wheel steering as result of the hydraulic failure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance identified the right hand elevator control unit was leaking and replaced the unit.
