A Kelowna Flightcraft Boeing 727-200, registration C-GKFJ performing freight flight KFA-274 from Vancouver,BC to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 3 crew, was beginning the descent towards Calgary about 100nm west of Calgary when the crew reduced the thrust to idle and the tail mounted engine (JT8D) flamed out. The crew worked the engine failure and shut down checklist and decided to attempt an air restart of the engine when all engine indications and parameters appeared normal. The engine successfully relighted and worked normally until safe landing about 30 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported that maintenance performed all relevant engine checks and returned the aircraft to service. A Service Difficulty Report was filed.
