A Frontier Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration N203FR performing flight F9-141 from Denver,CO to Seattle,WA (USA) with 168 people on board, was climbing out of Denver the aircraft was hit by lightning taking the weather radar out. The crew decided to divert to Salt Lake City,UT, climbing to FL360 for the about 350nm distance to Salt Lake. The aircraft landed safely in Salt Lake City about 2 hours after departure from Denver.

The aircraft was repaired in Salt Lake City, was able to continue the journey after about 4 hours on the ground and reached Seattle with a delay of 6 hours.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted to Salt Lake City after receiving the lightning strike due to the bad weather at Denver which the aircraft could not return to because of the failed weather radar.
