An American Airlines Boeing 777-200, registration N762AN performing flight AA-79 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) with 230 passengers and 14 crew, was enroute at FL400 about 90nm east of Tulsa,OK (USA) when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (Trent 892) down. The aircraft diverted to Tulsa for a safe landing on Tulsa's runway 18L about 30 minutes after leaving FL400.

A replacement Boeing 777-200 registration N773AN reached Dallas with a delay of 4.5 hours.
