A Scat Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration LY-AWE performing flight DV-701 from Shimkent to Astana (Kazakhstan) with 89 passengers and 5 crew, aborted the approach to Astana's runway 22 (length 3,500 meters/11,500 feet) when the crew received an unsafe indication for the nose gear after extending the landing gear. The crew worked the relevant checklists but could not receive three greens. A low approach to Astana showed the nose gear extended. The crew as well as the airport prepared for a possible nose gear collapse during landing, the runway was closed and foamed for the arrival of the aircraft. The aircraft landed safely on runway 22 about 100 minutes after aborting the first approach.

The airline reported the nose gear indication was false, there were no injuries and no damage.

The airport was closed for about 90 minutes until the aircraft was towed off the runway.

On Apr 8th 2014 Kazakhstan's Civil Aviation Authority announced an unscheduled examination of the airline reporting that following the problem with the nose gear the aircraft landed successfully as result of the coordinated work of pilots, air traffic control, airport staff, Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Emergencies.
