A SCAT Airlines Boeing 737-500, registration UP-B3723 performing flight DV-766 from Atyrau to Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) with 115 people on board, was climbing out of Atyrau when the aircraft flew through a flock of ducks or geese and received a number of bird strikes, one engine (CFM56) ingested a number of birds and began to emit unusual noises. The crew stopped the climb and returned to Aktyrau for a safe landing.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights or refunded.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 28 hours after landing.
