A Transavia Boeing 737-800, registration PH-HSD performing flight HV-5133 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was climbing through FL340 about 40nm southwest of Brussels about to enter French Airspace when the crew requested to turn around and return to Amsterdam declining any assistance and maintaining routine communication throughout the return until landing on Amsterdam's runway 18R about 40 minutes later.

A passenger reported the captain announced engine problems, he suspected a blade in the engine had gone loose. The passenger did not notice anything out of the normal, other passengers discussed the engine sound.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration PH-HZD reached Barcelona with a delay of 3 hours.
