A KLM Boeing 737-800, registration PH-HSD performing flight KL-933 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Edinburgh,SC (UK), was accelerating for takeoff from Amsterdam's runway 36L when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 110 knots over ground) due to a loud bang. The aircraft slowed safely and stopped on the runway. The crew indicated they had a problem with one of their tyres but would be able to vacate the runway. The aircraft vacated the runway and stopped, the crew shut both engines down for an inspection by emergency services advising, that passengers had seen a flash at the right hand side, at that moment the crew had heard a bang. The crew later taxied to the apron on single engine (CFM56).

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration PH-BCD reached Edinburgh with a delay of about 2 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 20 hours after the rejected takeoff.
