A Hawkair de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-FIDL performing flight BH-1102 from Vancouver,BC to Terrace,BC (Canada) with 32 people on board, was descending towards Terrace when the aircraft went through some light turbulence prompting the flight crew to illuminate the fasten seat belt sign. When the aircraft descended through 11,000 feet the aircraft encountered severe turbulence for about 1-2 minutes, the autopilot disconnected, loose items in the cockpit lifted off. The flight attendant in the cabin impacted the cabin ceiling and fell back onto the floor and received injuries. The crew continued the flight for a safe landing at Terrace, the flight attendant was treated for minor injuries.

The Canadian TSB reported that due to the illuminated fasten seat belt signs there were no injuries amongst the passengers, the flight attendant however hit the ceiling and fell back onto the floor. The flight attendant was treated for minor injuries. There were clear skies, strong north easterly winds. Localized severe mechanical turbulence had been forecasted.
