A Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N707TW performing flight DL-437 from Los Angeles,CA to Boston,MA (USA), was enroute at FL390 about 120nm west of Detroit,MI (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Detroit. The captain advised ATC: "I am the one that is ill". The captain advised he would taxi the aircraft after landing to the gate and then needed to go to the hospital. The aircraft landed on Detroit's runway 22L about 21 minutes after leaving FL390.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about two hours, then continued the flight and reached Boston with a delay of about 2 hours.
