A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400, registration D-ABVU performing flight LH-782 from Frankfurt/Main (Germany) to Bangkok (Thailand) and further on to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), was climbing out of Frankfurt's runway 07C when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 reporting engine (CF6) trouble. The aircraft climbed further to FL140, dumped fuel and returned to Frankfurt for a safe landing on runway 07C about one hour after departure.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration D-ABVS departed the following morning and is estimated to reach Bangkok with a delay of 12 hours.
