A Travel Service Boeing 737-800, registration OK-TVG performing flight QS-7266 from Katowice (Poland) to Bodrum (Turkey) with 193 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 60nm north of Sofia when the crew declared PAN reporting the right hand engine (CFM56) had failed and was shut down, they needed to descend and divert to Sofia (Bulgaria). The aircraft descended to FL150 and diverted to Sofia for a safe landing on runway 27 about 40 minutes later.

A replacement Smartwings Boeing 737-800 registration OK-TVY positioned to Sofia and reached Bodrum as flight QS-7226 with a delay of 5.5 hours.

On Aug 27th 2013 the French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that the crew received indication of low oil pressure and low oil quantity for the right hand engine. FADEC automatically shut the engine down, the crew diverted the aircraft to Sofia. Czech Authorities are investigating the occurrence rated a serious incident.

On Oct 18th 2013 the Czech UZPLN reported in their quarterly bulletin that the #3 bearing had failed and was destroyed. The bearing had been installed in 2008 and had since flown for 17,285 hours in 5,627 cycles. The occurrence was downgraded from serious incident to incident after this finding.
