A United Boeing 757-200, registration N12109 performing flight UA-23 from Newark,NJ (USA) to Dublin (Ireland), was enroute at FL350 about 50nm southwest of Saint John,NB (Canada) when the crew adjusted the cabin temperature which was followed by a loss of cabin pressure. The flight crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet and returned to Newark for a safe landing about 110 minutes later.

The flight was cancelled.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance idenfitied on of the positive pressure relief valves as faulty, both valves were replaced and a test flight performed.
