An Easyjet Switzerland Airbus A319-100, registration HB-JZL performing flight U2-1343 from Geneva (Switzerland) to Rome Fiumicino (Italy) with 130 people on board, was on approach to Rome when the aircraft was sent into a hold at FL100. After holding for 40 minutes and still being on delay vectors onto approach into Fiumicino the crew declared emergency reporting low on fuel and diverted to Rome's Ciampino Airport for a safe landing on runway 15 about 7 minutes later.

The aircraft flew to Fiumicino Airport after about 4 hours on the ground and reached the destination with a delay of 5 hours.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin quoting Italian Authorities, that the aircraft declared emergency and diverted to the alternate airport due to "poor fuel". Italy's ANSV is investigating the occurrence rated a serious incident.
