An Easyjet Switzerland Airbus A319-100, registration HB-JZL performing ferry flight DS-9010 from Nice (France) to Geneva (Switzerland) with just the 2 flight crew on board, was on approach to Geneva around 18:20L (16:20Z) when the crew declared emergency reporting extreme noise in the cockpit. Geneva Approach therefore sent three aircraft on approach into holding patterns, an aircraft on final approach was instructed to go around as well and join a holding pattern, the runway was kept sterile for about 15 minutes until the A319 had safely landed on runway 23 and taxied to the apron.

The aircraft had departed Geneva as flight DS-1511 to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) in the morning at 06:50L (04:50Z) but stopped the climb just above FL360, descended on a relatively normal profile and diverted to Nice for a safe landing on runway 04L about 50 minutes after departure due to some unknown technical issue. A replacement Easyjet Airbus A319-100 registration G-EZIU positioned from London Luton,EN (UK) to Nice and reached Palma Mallorca with a delay of 9.5 hours.
