An Aer Lingus Airbus A330-200, registration EI-LAX performing flight EI-137 from Dublin (Ireland) to Boston,MA (USA), was climbing out of Dublin's runway 10 when the crew stopped the climb at FL100, entered a hold for about 35 minutes before returning to Dublin for a safe landing on runway 10 about 70 minutes after departure.

The flight was subsequently cancelled.

A passenger reported the captain announced the flaps could not be retracted.

The airline confirmed a technical problem. The rotation EI-137/EI-138 was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
