A United Boeing 757-200, registration N17133 performing positioning flight UA-3901 from Dublin (Ireland) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 2 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 250nm northwest of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew decided to divert to Shannon reporting their left hand engine (RB211) was running but degraded. The aircraft landed safely on Shannon's runway 24 about 55 minutes after the decision to divert.
