A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8671D performing flight WN-4563 from Las Vegas,NV to Santa Barbara,CA (USA) with 58 people on board, was climbing out of Las Vegas' runway 26R when the crew declared emergency just before being handed off to departure reporting the failure of the left hand engine (CFM56). The crew shut the engine down and returned to Las Vegas for a safe landing on runway 26R. The aircraft stopped briefly for a check by emergency services and returned to the apron.

The FAA reported: "Southwest Airlines Flight 4563 returned safely to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas around 10:45 p.m. local time on Thursday, July 10, after the crew reported possible engine issues. The Boeing 737-800 was headed to Santa Barbara Municipal Airport in California. The FAA will investigate."

The aircraft returned to service on Jul 13th 2025.
